"I Was a Teenage Anarchist" is a song by the Gainesville, Florida-based punk rock band Against Me!, released as the first single from their 2010 album White Crosses. The single was released as a four-track digital download through various online music stores on April 6, 2010, including the additional album track "Rapid Decompression" and two B-sides from the album's sessions, "One by One" and "Bitter Divisions".[2] A 7" single was released on April 17 in conjunction with Record Store Day, with an acoustic version of "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" featuring as the B-side.[3][4]

While it seemed that the dream of an anarchist revolution was within grasp, World War I would put an end to popular revolt, as young men went to the front. A movement that had once seemed poised to take over the world was now severely weakened.
With the defeat of the Spanish Republic, and squeezed between Stalinists, fascists, and capitalists, anarchists found themselves in disarray, with nowhere to turn politically as the Second World War loomed. The anarchist movement seemed doomed. But was it?
Yes the movie takes a very clear stance and by doing so (repeatedly) it may annoy some viewers (probably not as much as the individual who has to live with his written contribution and something that people use and abuse time and time again). You can see that he tries or tried to move on with his life.It's not easy though, especially when you get reminded by a film crew and if the guy asking you questions keeps digging and asking. It is a tough watch and a somewhat strange documentary. But this what makes it compelling in a way too. And while the filmmaker is judgemental, it is still left up to you, to judge about the author of a "bad" book ... And it's up to you to interpret and really draw something out of this. What it says about human nature, about forgiveness, about corrupting, about easy manipulation and about responsibility ...
